Respected Madam,
Sub: Submission of New items for discussion –Welfare Board Meeting to be held during Aug-2017 – reg
Ref: CGM BSNL TN Circle Lr No WLF/1-4/2016-17/25 Dt 28-07-2017
*** *** ***
With reference to the letter cited above I would like to submit the new items for favourable consideration and discussion in the ensuing Welfare Board Meeting to be held during Aug-2017 at Chennai please.

Item No. 1 PERIODICITY OF MEETING
It is long since the Board met during 2013. Definitely there could be reasonable justification for not able to call for the Meeting. However we request that we can fix the periodicity as once in 6 months so that the fruitful decisions could be availed by members, as every passing month many are getting retired on superannuation. A positive consideration is requested please.

Item No. 2 DISTRICT LEVEL BOARD MEETING
Unlike Circle Board at District Level meeting seldom held. We suggest that the District Level Board Meetings be convened once in 3 months so that the clearance of application under welfare schemes may be reviewed and a report may be obligatory to the Circle. Submitted for consideration please.

Item No. 3 MARRIAGE LOAN
We would like to place it on record our sincere gratitude to the Board’s earlier decision enhancing the loan. But due to escalating expenditure on marriages it is felf insufficient. So the marriage loan from the Welfare Board may kindly be enhanced to Rupees One Lakh please. Also we request that throughout Tamil Nadu this may kindly be ensured as uniform.
We are duty bound to bring to the notice of the Board the difficulties suffered in getting the loan. This has been due to the small discrepancies found in the Form-3 (Details of Family). As far as Welfare Board is concerned, in our opinion, it is enough to verify the veracity of the relationship and the legal marriageable age of the bridegroom or bride and not the actual date of Birth or spellings and so on.
The problem has been arising due to the non implementation of the Circle council earlier decision of Service Book Verification in the SSAs. We request that this may be reiterated so that the real problem in getting the terminal benefits on retirement.

Item No. 4. SUBSCRIPTION
We request this may be ensured uniformly in all SSAs as Rs. 50/ per month.

Item No 5. IMMEDIATE RELIEF
Like marriage expenses, the sad occurrence of death and subsequent funeral expenditures has also unmanageable or un-negotiable at that juncture. Hence it is requested that in reality a timely help extended by our Welfare Immediate relief may kindly be doubled as Rs 30,000/= (Circle Fund) and Rs. 5000/= (SSA Special Welfare Fund) please.

Item No.6 RETIREMENT GRANT
With the present amount of Rs.2,000/= a cash award and a memento, usually a suitcase, is being given to the retiring person in commemoration of his or her long service. More than a fact that it is insufficient, we suggest that it would be befitting to the welfare Board to augment it to the Maximum of Rs.10,000/= please.

Item No.7 MEDICAL CHECK UP
Now, Master check up is being allowed on members above age 55, only for once. Due to changed life style the severe ailments like heart attack is being common on youngsters even. Hence as prevention is better than cure we request that the Master check up may kindly be allowed two times, once before 50 and the next after 50 years of age. This will not only help the individual but also our company in reducing on medical bills on the after continued compulsory expenses on post operative stage. We further suggest the actual amount on Master check up may kindly allowed or with a cap of Rs.5000/= please.

Item No. 8 MEDICAL CAMPS
For example, the Aravind Eye Hospital is holding even free medical camps on social philanthropic consideration. But we learnt that they are hesitant to sign MOU with our Company which is much distressing. We request that this may kindly be resolved please. Further we request ordinary medical camps be arranged at towns for the benefit of BSNL staff to increase the awareness of health among them on the sponsorship of Welfare Board please.

Item No.9 GRANT ON SPECTECLES
The spectacle grant may be increased from the present Rs.800/= to Rs.1500/= please.

Item No.10 RECOGNITION OF Telephone Recreation CLUBS
As LTC is being stopped we suggest that short trip tour grants through Recognized TRCs may sanctioned by the Welfare Board. The tours will enhance the bonds of relationship among the employees and family members. The tours will instill the feeling of greatness of this great country with varied culture and tradition on the members. For this purpose the rules and regulations for forming and getting official recognition of Telecom Recreation Clubs and avail the grants may kindly be circulated please.
We once again request to kindly consider the above items for discussion in the Welfare Board
 Meeting please.

Thanking You,
With kind regards,
Yours faithfully,
