Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) completes 11 years, on 1st October 2011.
On 1st October 2000, this PSU was formed, changing the government Department DOT to a corporation.
This company which had cash reserve of Rs. 40,000 crores and posting a profit of about Rs. 5,000 crores to Rs. 10,000 crores in a year has now been reduced to a loss o Rs.6384, in 2010-11.
Government's commitment to pay ADC to BSNL, was thrown into air. Licence Fee reimbursement is also now stopped.
Now the USOF of Rs.2000/- Crores is also stopped.
In the name of level playing, the government has withdrawn its commitments. All the surplus money of BSNL, was taken away by the government in the name of spectrum charges.
BSNL was discriminated against the private companies, which are very CLOSE AND DEAR to the government.
The anti-PSU policy of the government, inefficiency of the management or rather mismanagement, a certain casual attitude of the workers, corrupt officers - all have resulted in negative growth of the company.
Procurement of equipments was stopped long back. Now it is learnt that the present tender for procurement of equipment is also facing cancellation.
In the name financial crunch, benefits of the workers, such as Medical allowances, LTC, Bonus are denied. BSNL Board has decided to implement VRS, and submitted its report to DOT on 29/09/2011.
Forthcoming years are going to be the years difficult for BSNL.
Happy Birth Day BSNL!
Wish you many more (??!!) returns of the Day!!
